Faith Moves

In Luke 1:30, Mary has a visitation. The angel tells her, “You have found favor with God.” For those of us who grew up Catholic, we were taught that Mary was perfect, but when I read this passage tonight, God reminded me that Mary was not a perfect person. There was only ever one perfect person and that was Jesus Christ.

You may think you can’t be used by God because of something you did or because of something that was done to you, but God sees the past as an irrelevant objection when He chooses the imperfect for His perfect plan. In verse 35 of Luke, the Scripture tells us that as the Holy Ghost and the power of God overshadowed Mary, Jesus the Son of God was conceived.

In that place of intimacy with God, new life is the inevitable outcome. Jesus said in John 15, if we would abide in Him, we would bear much and lasting fruit, guaranteed. And in our intimate times with God, He can birth a new ministry, a new business, a new dream for your life. Even if an old dream is as good as dead, He can resurrect it in a miraculous moment. In fact, He can make it bigger and better than it was before.

At the beginning of the year, I believe God showed me that 2013 is the year of fulfillment – fulfillment of promises, fulfillment of purpose & destiny and fulfillment of God-given dreams and desires.

When Mary received the promise of God, she responded with faith: “Be it done unto me according to Your Word.” James 2:17 says, “Faith without action steps (my version) is dead and useless.” Faith is not just believing; it’s acting as though you believe. It’s acting as though what you’re believing has already happened or is about to happen.

Usually when God moves, it will take one or more action steps on our part to see the miracle come forth. The important thing is to get that action step from God Himself rather than assuming you know what to do. That’s where assuming you know what to do can take you down the wrong path. As you lean on God for His understanding, He will show you the first step you need to take.

Like all humans, we like to have the whole plan ahead of time, but that’s not how God works. He usually gives you one step to see how you do with that. Then when you complete that, He gives you another step and another until the miracle takes place. You may think you can’t do it and you’re right – you can’t do it without Him. You will need His help and grace to do what He told you to do.

Obedience is your key to victory. Faith equals action and that action must originate with God. As you step out in faith, you will experience the beautiful partnership God meant for you to have with Him from the beginning of time. We move and He moves — in such graceful harmony that it becomes a dance of life. And in it, we grow and mature and become all that He has called us to be, one step at a time.

My prayer for you is that you will take that step of faith with confidence – first of intimacy with God in prayer, worship and just sitting at the foot of His throne adoring Him and then in due time, you will birth what was conceived, bringing forth much and lasting fruit for His glory, in Jesus’ name.
